Land Cruiser Cummins diesel engine swap – What products do we offer?

Land Cruiser engine swaps are some of our favorites around here. We even have the affectionately named “World’s Saddest Land Cruiser” rebuild that we’ll be showcasing on Youtube … someday.

While the World’s Saddest languishes just a little longer while we tackle some other projects, we wanted to put together a list of a few of the products we offer that just might help you along the way with your swap.

Check out our list below:

Engine mounts

Transfercase adapter kit

Land Cruiser transfer case
Transfercase Adapter Kit

High mount kit – Hint: Most Land Cruisers need a 1.5″ inlet WITH the 1/2″ NPT side bung

High Mount Kit

Voltage regulator kit

Unrelated to the diesel swap, but we’ve gotten a lot of love for our Universal Recover Brakcets (URBs). We were even featured in Toyota Cruisers & Trucks magazine! You can check out that article here.

And finally, as always, you can check out our Amazon affiliate page here for more ideas.

How to Swap a Cummins 6bt 12 Valve Diesel into a Chevrolet Suburban

You asked for it, and here it is: Our new 4-part series detailing the nitty gritty of doing the diesel swap for project Shrapnel. We love a Cummins swap project, and this one didn’t disappoint. In this playlist series, we walk you through the step-by-step how to of installing a Cummins 6bt 12 valve diesel into a Chevrolet Suburban.

This Cummins-swapped Chevrolet Suburban is ready to roll

Remember the Subruno?

For this project, we worked with our customer Joe to build a rig similar to the Subruno we built a few years back. You can learn more about that build here. We had so much fun building that rig that when Joe reached out and said he wanted one just like it, we were intrigued to say the least.

We were hesitant to take on another build though, because above all else, we’re a small shop by design, and we want to take excellent care of our existing customers. As a result, we don’t take on too many new projects these days. But after speaking with Joe, learning more about him and what he was looking for, we felt that he was such a good fit for the shop we just couldn’t turn him down.

Why “Shrapnel”?

And what’s with the rig’s name? Well, in addition to being an all around great guy, Joe is a disabled combat veteran who knows a thing or two about just that … shrapnel. Moreover, he’s also a retired police officer, current small business owner, and jokester extraordinaire. All in all, we loved working with Joe and are so grateful he reached out to us! Interested in hiring us to do your build? Thanks for the compliment! But … read this first.

Our newest Cummins swapped Chevrolet Suburban

We used our very own Adventure Vehicles NW products to bring this build to life. Doing your own Cummins swap? We want you to have all the tools you need to build your dream rig. Check out some of the products we used below:

You can follow the entire Shrapnel build process over on our Youtube channel here.

UPDATE – Will you build my …?

The short answer? Probably not, but thank you for your inquiry.

The longer answer?

  • We’re a (very) small shop.
  • We don’t intend to grow anytime soon.
  • We only book projects that (1) Joel is excited about and (2) the customer is very excited about.

Still interested? We are booked for 2022. We will again consider new projects starting in September 2022. Priority consideration given to (1) fun projects with (2) awesome owners who (3) understand that projects take as long as they take to get it right and (4) cost what they cost.

Think you might be a good fit? Send an email to Melissa@Jonesys.com, bearing in mind that we won’t be committing to anything new until September 2022. Tell us what you want to build, assure us of your patience and positivity levels, and inquire about how we do business so that when you receive an invoice, you are 100% confident that your money has been spent efficiently and with respect for your bottom line.

We have the world’s best customers and we plan to keep it that way! Thank you so much for your interest; we appreciate it.

This is an update to our prior potential project post found here.

NEW VIDEO! DIY Chain Storage

Sexy? Not even a little. Necessary? Absolutely.

Here’s the deal: We’ve been running hard these past few years. We sold a beloved diesel swapped Suburban on Bring a Trailer. We built our first Fummins. Our website grew 5 times over its start a few years back. We’ve seen Camaros, Corvettes, and Land Cruisers come and go. We’ve bought and sold school busses. And we’ve had a steady stream of customer projects spend time in our shop.

Along the way, we’ve had a whole lot of fun. But what we haven’t had is time to keep the shop in tip top organizational shape. After awhile, this gets old. Nobody wants to be tripping on chains or searching under empty bottles for the tool you need. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s time to take a pause and get the shop cleared of clutter and cleaned up.

You know we’re not headed to the Target basket aisle though, so we’ve got to build some custom solutions for our specific tools. And first up is this stand to organize our truckers chains and tow chains. This was a fun, straight forward project and a happy first step toward getting this place picked up.

“Will you build my …?”

** February 2022 Update ** Go here for our latest shop plans: https://adventurevehiclesnw.com/update-will-you-build-my/

As many of our online customers and Youtube viewers know, we sell custom auto parts here at Adventure Vehicles NW and we build vehicles over at our shop, Jonesy’s. We showcase some of those builds over on our Youtube channel. Through our online customers, in-person customers, and viewers, we get questions all the time about building some very cool vehicles for people, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Up until recently, however, we’ve had to turn down 99% of those build requests. It’s always hard to say no to a project that’s genuinely exciting, but first and foremost we have to take care of our existing customers and do right by their builds. We are a small shop by design, and we intend to stay that way so that we can give each of our customers the attention they deserve.

That said, we’ve recently made some changes around here to free up slightly more time for new projects. What does that mean for you? If you’re interested in having us build your vehicle, first know that we are flattered and appreciative! We’d love to hear more about your project. **Read on for more details.**

Usually people first want know about cost estimates for their build, which we both appreciate and understand.  The thing is, every project is different; the variables are truly limitless and depend on your preferences, market availability, and any quirks particular to your vehicle.  As a result, our shop works on a time plus materials basis at the shop rate of $75 an hour.

We understand that in order to entrust us with your build, you’ll likely want more information than that.  For those who are serious about completing their build, we need more information about your project and your expectations.  Before we get to that, a few things to keep in mind when considering working with us:

  • We’re a small shop.  We choose to stay small because we want every project to get the expert attention it deserves.
  • Doing it right takes time.  Our next available opening for projects is Summer/Fall 2022.  Depending on the extent of your build, 6-12 months to completion is the standard timeframe.
  • We require a deposit at the outset. We believe in doing business honestly and with integrity.  We want you to be comfortable with the way we do business, so we invite you to ask questions and get to know us.

Think we might be a good fit for you and your project?  For us to determine whether you and your project are a good match for our services, and in order to provide you more information so you can make an educated decision, please drop us an email at info@Jonesys.com with the following information:

  • Tell us a little about your vehicle.  Make, model, year, existing modifications?
  • Next, tell us about your goals for the build.  What do you want the vehicle to look like in the end?  What should it be able to do?
  • Finally, tell us anything else we should know about you and your build.

We are always learning and enjoy taking on new and different projects. Right now, we’re most interested in working on the following types of builds:

  • Engine swaps in any and all types of vehicles
  • Chevy Suburbans
  • Land Cruisers
  • Land Rovers

Again, thank you for your interest in our services!
